Leadership
Monica Pavalko, President of Carlyle Design Studio, Inc., along with her team of creative, organized design professionals, have transformed interiors from California to the breathtaking islands of Hawaii.
After studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California, Monica refined her craft and was an award-winning project manager while working for prestigious regional and national design firms before founding
Carlyle Design Studio, Inc in 2000.
As the Creative Director and Designer, Monica is hands on every project with a required trained eye, keen to the details of construction and design.
She currently resides in Surf City, Huntington Beach, California, and is inspired every day by the beautiful California coastal landscape outside her own window. Her design aesthetic carries that same organic beauty and energetic vibe into Carlyle’s projects.

What are your go-to’s for inspiration and keeping up to date in the industry?
I love traveling and staying in cool hotels where the interior design stretches the imagination. Getting out of the design studio and seeing what’s happening in the creative world is very inspiring. Attending trade shows, seminars and networking events, viewing industry related websites and magazines, walking models, boutique shopping are all necessary for creative flow and keep me invigorated and inspired! As does Instagram and Pinterest!
What is one of your design Pet Peeve’s?
When scale is off. Scale and proportion have the largest impact on spatial functionality and flow.
Do you have a favorite quote?
I have several quotes that motivate me but the two that I try to live by and encourage others with are “Feel the fear and do it anyways” and “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.
What qualities make for the best client?
Above all else, loyalty, honesty and trust make up the core of a desirable working relationship. Laughter and fun while doing it, is a must!
